Preservice Training Sessions
In our Pre-Service sessions, CASA volunteers are given the necessary tools and information needed to become court-appointed advocates. We provide 30 hours of education and training to prepare you to work with children who have been abused or neglected and are in the foster care system. Training topics include CASA roles and responsibilities, bonding and attachment, child abuse and neglect, cultural issues, effects of trauma (e.g. drug and alcohol addiction), domestic violence, mental illness (Adverse Childhood Experiences), communication with children, conflict resolution and more. All classes must be completed before volunteers can graduate and be sworn in as CASA advocates.
