What's Happening...

Season of Giving

is just around the corner!

We are looking for volunteers to help with our Giving Trees and Wrapping Party!

Spruce Needles

Silent Lights

An evening of quiet reflection and shared purpose. On Sunday, December 21, the longest night of the year, our community will gather in support of Yamhill County CASA, advocates for children facing abuse and neglect. Luminary kits will be available for purchase by individuals and businesses, with every dollar going directly to help these children. At dusk, candles will alight, streetlights will dim, music will carry us into the moment, and in one luminous pause, together, we will honor the kids whose journeys have been harder than most.

Preservice Training Sessions

In our Pre-Service sessions, CASA volunteers are given the necessary tools and information needed to become court-appointed advocates. We provide 30 hours of education and training to prepare you to work with children who have been abused or neglected and are in the foster care system. Training topics include CASA roles and responsibilities, bonding and attachment, child abuse and neglect, cultural issues, effects of trauma (e.g. drug and alcohol addiction), domestic violence, mental illness (Adverse Childhood Experiences), communication with children, conflict resolution and more. All classes must be completed before volunteers can graduate and be sworn in as CASA advocates.
